Sergey Petrossov is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of JetSmarter, a company that offers private and shared jet services. Prior to his role at JetSmarter, he also co-founded an online chat system and a distance-learning platform for educational institutions that speak Russian. In addition, he was a board advisor for a private jet operator based in South Florida.
In his search for innovation, Sergey Petrossov came up with the idea for JetSmarter when he flew private in 2009 for the first time, realizing the tedious nature of the booking process. Given that the mobile marketplaces were on the rise, he realized that the outdated process of booking a private jet could be solved with technology – which resulted in creating his own billion-dollar company.
Sergey Petrossov assembled a development team with people that he worked with on previous projects, and invested his own capital in the concept. He planned for an app to connect flyers with private jet operators, and the beta version of the product got launched in 2012. After establishing collaborations with hundreds of partners and vendors, and raising funding for the project, the JetSmarter app became officially launched worldwide in the early part of 2013.
The development’s teamwork combined with the vision that Sergey Petrossov had resulted in the groundbreaking app, which, besides connecting clients with a private jet operator, is also able to provide limited helicopter charter services. The tech, management, and advisory teams behind the project brought a combined experience of over 100 years in areas such as logistics, technology, and private air travel. The company grew in quick fashion, offering its services to 14,000 paid subscribers, on over 3,200 private jets – with subscribers paying as much as $15,000 each year. In additions, plans are for JetSmarter to establish its own branded aircraft at some point the future.
